Ho Yen Yi promotes to Equipo Kern Pharma
The young cyclist from Taiwan grew up in Equipo Finisher and the Giant Grassroots Program
Equipo Kern Pharma continues to strengthen its roster for the upcoming season with a very special signing. Ho Yen Yi will be the new cyclist for the Navarran team, transitioning from Equipo Finisher after developing in the Giant Grassroots Program, in a process that consolidates the commitment to nurturing cycling talent.
“Being able to join a team like Kern Pharma is something that truly makes me excited and grateful”, explains the young Taiwanese cyclist. “Their teamwork, level, and professionalism are incredible and I’m really proud and honored to be part of it. At the same time, I know next year will be the most challenging season of my career, I hope I can grow together with the team”.
Following in her sister’s footsteps, Ho Yen Yi (Yilan City, Taiwan, 2001) began to develop a love for cycling at an early age, before joining his school’s cycling team at the age of 14. “In Taiwan, when you’re a teenager, there aren’t many races you can do, so most of the riding is just for fun and health. I actually started with mountain biking, and later slowly moved into road cycling”, recounts the Asian cyclist.
He then had the opportunity to join Giant Grassroots Program, a global project designed to develop young cycling talent from around the world with the support of Equipo Kern Pharma.
Following this path, Ho joined the Equipo Finisher development team in 2023, where he has delivered great performances in the most demanding races of the Torneo Euskaldun and the Torneo Lehendakari, such as the Subida a Arrate. In addition, he has shone for his outstanding ability to work for the team, highlighting this season his key role in the successes of the team in the Vuelta Navarra and the Copa de España.

“When I first joined the team, sometimes I honestly couldn’t keep up with the intensity of racing in Spain”, revisits Ho. “But as I kept learning, training, and racing, things slowly started to click. I was able to do my job for the team, and even got a few results this year”.
During this time, Ho has established himself as one of Taiwan’s best cyclists, with several victories in local competitions and podium finishes in the last two editions of the national time trial championship, including the most recent one held three weeks ago.
Ho Yen Yi is the fourth cyclist from Equipo Finisher to make his professional debut with Equipo Kern Pharma in 2026, following the already confirmed signings of Iker Gómez, Unai Ramos, and César Pérez.
“Ho’s incorporation consolidates two very important aspects of this project: offering opportunities to young talent from around the world and the importance of Equipo Finisher in our future”, said Juanjo Oroz, general manager of Equipo Kern Pharma. “After his important time in the Giant Grassroots Program, he has spent a few years training at our development team, which we consider vital for laying the foundations for what will be a very promising future as part of our commitment to continuing to improve the future of this sport.”
