Equipo Kern Pharma and Giant extend partnership for three further years
Spanish UCI ProTeam to ride on TCR Advanced SL Disc in 2022
The partnership between Equipo Kern Pharma and Giant Bicycles will go on until 2025. The world’s youngest UCI ProTeam and the world’s leading bike manufacturer first joined paths back in 2020, when the Spanish squad managed by Manolo Azcona and Juanjo Oroz stepped up to the UCI ranks.
Cooperation between both entities will escalate some degrees further in the frame of this agreement. Equipo Kern Pharma will test the newest products of both Giant’s and Cadex’s portfolios in order to offer expert feedback. The Spanish cycling team will also work hand in hand with Giant on projects to develop competitive cycling in Taiwan, Giant’s home nation, and around the globe.
Equipo Kern Pharma riders will ride this season on the very best of Giant’s portfolio. The TCR Advanced SL Disc, set up with Shimano Dura-Ace groupsets and Cadex 42 Disc Tubular wheels, will be the bike of choice for road races. This is the latest version of the iconic TCR model, one that has been used by some of the best riders in cycling’s history over its 25 years of evolution. As for the time trial races, the riders of the Spanish team will use the Giant Trinity Advanced SL.
Giant will also be the official helmet supplier for Equipo Kern Pharma in 2022. For this matter, it will provide the Spanish team with Rev Pro Mips helmets for road races and Rivet TT for time trials.
“This agreement is a milestone for the development of our cycling team,” says Juanjo Oroz, Equipo Kern Pharma’s General Manager and Sports Director. “We are thrilled to have top quality resources to work on – both on the tech and the human domains. Furthermore, at Equipo Kern Pharma we are honored to offer some feedback that we hope will be useful for the development of Giant’s and Cadex’s products.”
“We are proud to extend and enhance our cooperation with the Equipo Kern Pharma family,” says José Casla, Giant Bikes Ibérica’s CEO. “The human qualities and cycling expertise of Manolo Azcona, Juanjo Oroz and the whole outfit guarantees the best outcome for this partnership. We share the team’s vision of supporting and nurturing young talent in order to further strengthen and grow cycling as a whole.”
