Equipo Kern Pharma welcomes Mikel Nieve (1984, Leitza) as Sport Director and performance support assistant. Four months after his official retirement, the new signing will contribute to the team’s growth.
“I am very excited with this new challenge I have just accepted. Equipo Kern Pharma and I share some thoughts and ideas, which I think is pretty good. I would take on a new role highly motivated”, explains Mikel Nieve.
After 15 years as a pro, he wants to pass on Equipo Kern Pharma’s riders some important values such as hard work and perseverance. “I would like them to work harder every day, be eager to improve and never lose their enthusiasm”, adds.
Juanjo Oroz, Equipo Kern Pharma’s general manager, states: “He is a highly experienced person who has competed for the best teams in the world. Surely, he will help us improve and reach our goals. Mikel Nieve will be an invaluable addition to our team”.
Mikel Nieve put an end to his cycling career in 2023 after 15 successful years of racing. He achieved important victories at Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España, he participated in 22 grand tours and was a valued domestique in Team Sky or Team BikeExchange, among others.
