This Wednesday 18th of January, the Blue Line Hotel at La Vila Joiosa (Alicante) hosted Equipo Kern Pharma’s 2023 team presentation. An occasion honored by the presence of sponsors, media and friends, that counted on the former cyclist Pedro Delgado as presenter.
The event was the end of an intense week of trainings in the province of Alicante and the prelude of a season that is expected to be exciting.
In 2023, Equipo Kern Pharma will count on 22 cyclists, three of which are new signings: Pablo Castrillo and Mikel Retegi, from its feeder team; and Iñigo Elosegui, from Movistar Team.
Once more, Equipo Kern Pharma will be one of the youngest outfits in the cycling elite, with 23,5 years old average age, and with more prospects to come from Equipo Finisher in the upcoming years.
Regarding the racing schedule, the pharmaceutical team will be travelling to more than 10 countries and will have more than 170 competition days. Spanish and French races will be its main focus, while the young outfit will make its debut at Tour of Omán and Tour of Taiwan.
Equipo Kern Pharma will be racing in several WorldTour events like Volta a Catalunya and Itzulia Basque Country, and will fight to receive a wildcard for Vuelta a España.
“I’m very happy to be part of the team in 2023 season”, says Juanjo Oroz, Equipo Kern Pharma’s general manager. “We have some beautiful challenges this year and we want to achieve them with a group that has been working together from the grassroots and that already has accomplished some victories”, explains, while concludes: “We rely upon our riders, as we are eager to enjoy their performances. We would love to see them succeed”.
Manolo Azcona, Asociación Deportiva Galibier’s president, shares the feeling: “We believe in what we do, so we would like to continue in this direction. It’s the key to become a great team”.
Raúl Díaz-Varela, Kern Pharma’s president, assures that “we are proud of being the main sponsor of a team that shares our values”. “We send them all our support and we are sure that this 2023 season will be amazing”.
Manuel Garrido, Kern Pharma‘s CEO, director general del laboratorio farmacéutico, highlights: “Kern Pharma was born 23 years ago with the same excitement as this team had. As the main partner, we are proud of the riders for their achievements. We were new to the sport, but we are here to stay”.
